It was a bittersweet moment as Jon, my lovely boyfriend drove me to the airport this morning. I was mixed with many emotions: excited, anxious, ready, scared, nervous, not ready... It's understandable under the circumstances, but I knew that more than anything, I was awaiting an amazing adventure and having a tremendous amount of support definitely helps ease the worries. I've always exclaimed how much I love airports. I love watching the people and wondering about their story, and sometimes I even get to hear their stories, which is even better! Everyone is there for a reason, whether they are tiresome and on their way home or are at the beginning of a new adventure. It's fun to wonder though!
So, although I have shared my love for airports, do any of y'all hate them? I have to be honest; I found a bit of anti-love in airports today. As I arrived for my first flight, the first bad news came... Delay. I thought through it and I had 16 minutes from landing to get to my next flight. Oh boy, I was a bit nervous. Well then, it got delayed again, so I had no hope. Then, it got delayed AGAIN! Little to say, I was on the phone for 3 hours and 14 minutes straight trying to figure out other options. They tried to tell me that they wouldn't refund me and it would cost me $800 in addition to what I paid and I'd be on a 2 day layover in Chicago, which I would miss all of my time in London. Ahhhhhh!!!! Now, I'm a pretty calm, understanding, and kind person, but I was nearing the edge. I'm also not a crier, but man, where those tears about to flow! Rough start to my trip, I'd have to say, but I'm currently boarded (been sitting on the plane for an hour), and I will just fly by the seat of my pants (no pun intended, or was it?) when I get to Chicago. My next post will hopefully be more optimistic and hopefully the rest of my trip will go better than the start.
Remember: airports are fun.... Until things go awfully wrong and you have to force yourself to laugh at how horribly things went. Oh, and I wore a cute travel outfit today.. :)

Thanks for tuning in.
Stay adventurous,
Laura
